Gillette, Wyoming -

Authorities say a disgruntled employee commandeered a locomotive from a north-east Wyoming coal mine and later ploughed it into another train before he was apprehended.

Police say the 22-year-old man faces preliminary charges that include reckless endangerment and felony destruction.

The incident began before 9am on Thursday at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine when the employee became upset with a supervisor over working conditions.

The employee unhooked some cars from a train and drove the locomotive off the mine property and onto a main rail line.

The Gillette News Record reports that he took the train about 20km south before crashing into another train.

No injuries were reported.

The total cost of the damage was not immediately available. -
