Rome- A 122.4-metre-long baguette was baked and served to visitors at Milan’s EXPO world fair, a feat officially recognised as a Guinness World Record.

A 27-strong team of Italian and French bakers, including the head of the Paris chamber of bakers and patissiers, worked together on Sunday to prepare the record-breaking bread loaf, which took six hours to bake, EXPO said in a statement.

The baguette was later filled with hazelnut spread Nutella, which sponsored the initiative, cut into 2 400 pieces and distributed to visitors.

The previous record for the world’s longest baguette was 111 metres. It was prepared in a supermarket in Vietnam six years ago.

Another Guinness record was made in June at Milan’s EXPO, which runs until October 31 and focuses on food and nutrition: The world’s longest pizza, measuring 1.6 kilometres.
