Johannesburg - A 12-year-old girl was among three people who were seriously injured in a shooting on Sunday during a domestic dispute.

A 39-year-old man was arrested after the child, her 32-year-old mother and an unknown man were shot in Primrose, Germiston, according to Gauteng police spokesman Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng.

Mofokeng said the man, who owns the property the child and mother live in, had fired several shots through an open window of the house.

“He then forced open the door to gain entry into the house and fired more shots at the people inside the house.

“A woman, an unknown man and a child were wounded by gun shots,” Mofokeng said.

The suspect tried to flee the scene but was arrested.

Mofokeng added that a licensed firearm and empty magazine were seized from the scene, as well as the firearm that belonged to the man.

He will appear in the Germiston Regional Court on Tuesday.
