Kimberley - A 26-year-old man was arrested after police discovered mandrax tablets at his house in Kimberley, Northern Cape police said on Tuesday.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Majang Skalkie said police received a tip-off about drugs being sold at the house in Soul City.

“The premises were searched with the assistance of the police dog named Bless. The dog recovered 50 mandrax tablets hidden inside the kitchen cupboard,” said Skalkie.

“The drugs were estimated to have a street value of R6 000. The suspect was arrested and charged with dealing in mandrax,” Skalkie said.

The suspect would appear in court soon.
