Cape Town - Schoolgirls featured in an abusive animal porn video have not been expelled and will write their June exams.

Western Cape Education Department spokeswoman Bronagh Casey said the girls, who attend Edgemead High School, would remain pupils while they finished their mid-year exams. The school’s governing body would decide this week what disciplinary action they would face.

One of the videos – “Squishing Nemo” – features a girl stomping fish to death while having sex with a man. The clip is about a minute long and has gone viral after being shared on social networks and porn sites.

Several more of the girl’s videos can be found on an internet porn site dedicated to the fetish.

The so-called “crush videos” involve fish and other small animals being crushed to death or seriously injured while people engage in sexual activity.

The Weekend Argus reported on Sunday that the girls were expelled after a staff member discovered the video. However, the Education Department has since said that no expulsion or suspension had taken place.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel André Traut confirmed the matter had been reported, but no case had been opened.

The school has provided counselling to the pupils, and the department has offered to assist if needed.
