Cape Town - Swedish beauty Anni Hindocha wanted to divorce British businessman Shrien Dewani shortly after their wedding because she felt she could not live with him, her cousin and confidante told the Western Cape High Court today.

Sneha Mashru was a State witness in Dewani's trial, in which he stands accused of orchestrating the November 2010 murder of his wife.

Mashru told the court that she and Anni were like sisters, who shared everything and even had the same passwords to their Facebook and email accounts.

After the couple were married in India at the end of October 2010, Anni spent more time with her than with Dewani and confessed that she did not get on very well with her new husband.

When Sneha suggested that Anni spend time with him, she refused, the court heard.

Later, Anni told her that she wanted to divorce him.

But Sneha advised her to go to South Africa for the honeymoon anyway and see if they can work things out.

However, in the event that it didn't, she would put money in Anni's bank account so she could fly home.

The last she heard from Anni was when she received a message to say that things were better and that she hated the word divorce.

The trial continues on Tuesday.
