Tonga - A security guard accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old youth was granted bail of R1000 by the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old guard, from Zibokwane village near the border with Swaziland and Mozambique, was not asked to plead. He was arrested on September 4, a Sapa correspondent reported.

The youth was at a local supermarket when the guard, who may not be named until he has pleaded, asked him to accompany him to his room, said Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi.

Once there, he offered the youth food and he ate, but the guard then pushed him to a bed, undressed him and forced him to have oral sex, Nyambi said.

“The victim defended himself by biting his attacker's penis and managed to escape,” he said, adding that the youth went to the police.

The guard was found at the local church, where he stayed, and was arrested and charged.

“The victim has been referred to the doctor for medical treatment and counselling,” said Nyambi.

The case was postponed to September 18 for further investigation.
