Cape Town - The Old Biscuit Mill has joined a growing list of shopping centres affected by crime after burglars made off with goods from a fashion store.

The burglary that took place early on Friday has left store owner and acclaimed fashion designer Kat van Duinen, from Poland, gutted.

Van Duinen, who opened up shop in Cape Town in 2010, recently displayed her high-end leather handbags at SA Fashion Week in Johannesburg.

“The robbers only took the exotic leather goods,” she said.

Police spokesman André Traut said

no one was arrested.

Store manager Natalie van der Walt said she was woken at 3.30am on Friday by a phone call from a security guard who said five hooded men had burgled the store using bolt-cutters on a chain on the security gate.
