Johannesburg - Two robbers were wounded in a shoot-out with police in Randburg, Johannesburg, on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

“One was injured in the arm and leg, the other on the buttocks,” Lt-Col Katlego Mogale said.

Four people, aged between 27 and 33, where driving along Bram Fischer Drive when police picked up a tracker signal from their car.

Police followed the vehicle, but the group sped off.

“A high-speed chase ensued on Bram Fischer until the suspects drove into the Randburg Square,” said Mogale.

When the robbers got out of the car one of them fired shots at police, who returned fire, wounding the two. The other two robbers were arrested and two firearms were seized.

The car was reported stolen in Olifantsfontein on Wednesday.
