Johannesburg - Sun worshippers may have started celebrating the onset of summer just a little bit too soon as another cold front is set to hit Gauteng.

“We’re going to have strong winds ahead of a cold front on Wednesday and Thursday… by Friday the cold front will be here,” SA Weather Service forecaster Edwin Thema said on Tuesday morning.

From Wednesday the cold front is expected to make its way from the Western Cape up to Gauteng.

Thema said Friday’s temperatures are expected to drop to maximums of 27°C in Pretoria and 23°C in Vereeniging.

By Sunday, temperatures are expected to drop to 24°C and 21°C respectively.

Thema said the weather over the weekend is expected to be partly cloudy and cool.
