A policewoman was killed and another was wounded when they were attacked while patrolling in Port Elizabeth on Monday, Eastern Cape police said.
The 31-year-old female constable and her 33-year-old male colleague, both attached to the New Brighton police station, were on patrol in Veeplaas when gunmen attacked them, said Lt-Gen Celiwe Binta.
The policewoman died on the scene. The policeman was in a critical, but stable condition in Greenacres hospital.
No arrests had been made.
