Kimberley - A 39-year-old vendor was arrested after police found drugs hidden between fruits and vegetables at his stall in Galeshewe, Northern Cape police said on Friday.

“Police followed up on information regarding drug sales at a fruit and vegetables stall in Santa Centre. The owner of the stall tried to flee when police arrived at his stall. A chase ensued and the suspect was arrested not far from the scene,” said spokesperson Lieutenant Sergio Kock.

Police found drugs such as mandrax, tik, cocaine and dagga hidden between the produce displayed at the stall.

The drugs were estimated to be worth R10 000, said Kock.

The man would appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of dealing in drugs.
