Cape Town - The Western Cape flying squad on Tuesday thwarted a robbery at a metal company in Kraaifontein and arrested six suspects.
“At about 11.10 am today … (police) received information about four vehicles that were going to rob SA Metal at Industrial road in Kraaifontein. Police followed up the information and indeed found one Honda Jazz inside the premises and a Blue Citi Golf that was parked outside the premises,” Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.
The suspects tried to flee but were caught by the police.
“Upon preliminary investigation, police found a 9mm pistol in one of the vehicles and it turned out that the Citi Golf was reported stolen last month at Elsies River and the Silver Honda Jazz was reported stolen at Somerset West. Both vehicles were confiscated by the police.”
The six are due to appear in court on charges of, among others, possession of stolen vehicles and an unlicenced firearm.
