Cape Town - Police on Friday called for the public’s assistance in identifying an unknown body found in Rocklands, Cape Town.

“Mitchell’s Plain police are urgently requesting information from community members in identifying an unknown body of African descent,” said Captain FC Van Wyk, police spokesperson.

On Thursday night, March 19, police received a complaint of a body found by a passer-by. The deceased’s naked and bruised body was lying on an open field adjacent to Lucanon Drive, Rocklands, near Mnandi Beach.

“A post mortem was completed and due to the state of the decomposition the cause of death is unknown,” said Van Wyk.

The deceased had a tattoo of an “anchor” on his left shoulder and a wristband on his left arm with the words, “Wish you were here”.

A murder case has been opened for investigation and anyone with information was requested to urgently contact investigating officer Warrant Officer Dedrick April on 084 516 7263.
