East London - Police held a drug awareness campaign at a school in Mdantsane, near East London, on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said.

“Mdantsane police, in partnership with the departments of social development and education, held a drug awareness campaign at Hlokoma High, NU-3, Mdantsane today,” said Lieutenant Nkosikho Mzuku.

An ex-convict shared his experiences with the pupils.

“Pupils at Hlokoma High were so emotional when listening to him narrating how bad life is (in) prison.

“He emphasised to the learners that bad choices results in bad outcomes.”

A school prefect thanked the authorities for their visit.

“I would like to extend a special thanks to the ex-convict, for sharing with us his experiences in prison. It is indeed an eye opener, we will stay away from drugs and focus on our future”, he said.
