Johannesburg - The release of the 2013/14 crime statistics by Police Minister Nkosinathi Nhleko and national police commissioner Riah Phiyega has been postponed to Friday, police said.

“The South African Police Service apologises for any inconvenience which may result from this change,” Colonel Vishnu Naidoo said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statistics were supposed to be released on Thursday, a day after the Institute for Security Studies briefed the media on the latest police crime statistics.

Nhleko and Phiyega would be accompanied by Deputy Police Minister Maggie Sotyu on Friday at the SAPS Tshwane Training Academy in Pretoria.
