Johannesburg - A 39-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison by the Khayelitsha Regional Court, for raping his eight-year-old daughter, Western Cape police said on Thursday.
“The accused who is the biological father was sentenced to two life imprisonment for repeatedly raping his daughter,” Captain Frederick van Wyk said in a statement.
Van Wyk said the sentences would run concurrently. The man was sentenced last month.
In 2011, the father, who was not staying in the same house as his daughter, would fetch her at the gate of the school and take her to his house at A Section in Thulani street, Khayelitsha.
“The teachers realised that the girl (eight years at the time) was absent at school for a period of a week. They notified the relatives about the trend and interviewed her. It was established that the father would fetch her before she got into the school premises [and take her] to his house,” he said.
“He forced her to watch porn movies and eventually raped her on several occasions. The father was eventually arrested and charged with rape.”
