Durban - Police have arrested a man after finding a micro dagga nursery – in a shoebox – in his Sydenham flat.

The bust took place on Friday night after police received a tip-off that drugs were being sold on the seventh floor of Disney Heights.

Police spokesman, Captain Myhen Lazarus, said police searched the bedroom and came across a white shoebox in a cupboard .

“Officers opened the box to find tiny dagga plants. Loose dagga and ecstasy tablets were also found in the cupboard. Police seized R600 in cash believed to be from the proceeds of drug sales,” he said.

The box, which initially appeared to be a school science project, was fitted with two AA batteries stuck with tape on the outside. The wires from the batteries connected to a small fan and a light bulb inside the box.

Police also found five million Zimbabwe dollars.

A man was due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of dealing, cultivating and possession of drugs.

Police said he was previously convicted of dealing in drugs and referred to the National Institute for Crime Prevention and the Reintegration of Offenders.
