Cape Town - Video footage of a verbal exchange between honeymoon murder accused Shrien Dewani and the man he allegedly approached to arrange the murder of his wife, Anni Hindocha, were screened in the Western Cape High Court on Tuesday.

It showed Dewani, who is on trial for Anni's murder, having a brief exchange with a hotel cleaner before the cleaner left, leaving him alone with Zola Tongo.

The footage was recorded at the Cape Grace Hotel at around 9am on November 14, 2010 - just hours after Anni had been shot dead.

Dewani and his wife stayed at that hotel while on honeymoon in Cape Town.

According to Tongo, who is a State witness in Dewani's murder trial, the cleaner depicted on the footage left after Dewani asked him to give the some privacy.

The footage then shows Dewani looking around as he paced up and down in the lounge of the hotel, while Tongo sat on an armchair.

Tongo testified that, during the exchange, Dewani asked him if he was alright and wanted to know if the “job” had been done.

Tongo responded that he did not know.

It is Tongo's version that the hit had taken place on Dewani's instructions.

Tongo further testified that he pointed out to Dewani that there were cameras in the hotel.

Dewani then moved to a position where the cameras would not be able to capture him.

Tongo said that, at a stage, Dewani was told that Anni's body was found in Tongo's vehicle, which had been abandoned in Khayelitsha.

Throughout Tongo's evidence, Dewani shook his head and rolled his eyes as he sat in the dock.

The trial continues.
