Durban - The rape case against a Durban teacher, on parole on a murder conviction, was struck off the roll in the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The man, who cannot be named until he has pleaded, was charged with the rape of two girls, one of 7 and the other of 13.

The 32-year-old man had been teaching life orientation at a high school on a contract until October. It is alleged that the incidents took place when he was offering the girls extra tuition.

The teacher had been released on parole in 2010 after serving eight years of a 20-year term for murder.

He was rearrested earlier this year after he breached his parole conditions.

On Tuesday magistrate Dorcas Khuzwayo struck the case off the roll because the man had not been brought from Westville Prison for a second time.
