Bloemfontein - Eight men have been arrested for allegedly shooting dead a farmer in Odendaalsrus, Free State police said on Thursday.

Four of them were arrested on Tuesday, and four on Wednesday, said Captain Stephen Thakeng.

The arrests of the group, aged between 21 and 35, followed a tip-off received by the Hawks,

They were found in possession of two firearms, one belonging to the 69-year-old farmer, as well as a bag stolen from the farmer's house during the robbery.

On October 30, a gang entered the house on the farm, robbed the farmer of his possessions, and then shot him dead.

His Hyundai bakkie was stolen and later found abandoned near Thabong.

The group would appear in the Odendaalsrus Magistrate's Court on Friday, said Thakeng.
