A minor accused of killing rightwing leader Eugene Terre'Blanche has disputed the signature he purportedly made on a statement to the police.
Zola Majavu, for the youth, said on Wednesday his client denied the signature was his.
He was cross-examining police officer Lt-Col Frans Jacobs in the High Court sitting in Ventersdorp.
The minor and farmworker Chris Mahlangu are accused of beating Terre'Blanche to death in his farmhouse in the North West in April 2010.
Both have pleaded not guilty to murder. Mahlangu claims he acted in self- defence. The teenager has denied involvement in the crime.
Jacobs, who went with the teenager to point out crime scenes, said on Wednesday he asked the teenager if the signature was his and he confirmed it. The teenager's mother also confirmed that it was her fingerprint on the statement.
Majavu pointed out that no probation officer was appointed to the child until after the pointing out of the crime scenes. Jacobs said he assumed all the correct procedures had been followed by his fellow officers before he came into contact with the teenager.
He was testifying in a trial within a trial to determine the validity of evidence given by the two accused. - Sapa
