Pretoria - An application for an urgent interdict brought by expelled Economic Freedom Fighters members of Parliament was dismissed in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday.

The four - Andile Mngxitama, Mpho Ramakatsa, Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala and Lucky Twala – had approached the court on an urgent basis seeking an order barring their removal from Parliament.

The four also wanted the court to issue an order barring the EFF from replacing them in the House.

Judge Eben Jordaan ruled that the application brought by the four was not urgent and struck it off the court roll.

“In my view this application is not urgent at all. It is a complete abuse of process and the matter is struck off the roll,” ruled Jordaan.

EFF leader Julius Malema was in court on Monday, sitting and listening attentively during the proceedings. He ran out of court soon after the ruling.
