Johannesburg - A five-month-old baby was shot in Soweto on Sunday, police said.
The parents and the child were inside their shack in the Bramfischerville neighbourhood when they heard gunshots, police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.
The baby was injured by a bullet and taken to hospital.
Police have opened a case of attempted murder, but had no further details on the shooting.
“We don’t know why, we don’t know who fired,” Dlamini said. “We don’t know the motive.”
