Durban - Four people who robbed security officers collecting money at a service station in Greenwood Park, Durban, were arrested on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

“The suspects robbed the guards of cash and fired shots in the process,” Colonel Jay Naicker said.

Police from the Greenwood Park police station were in the vicinity and immediately responded.

A shoot-out between the robbers and police ensued.

“Three of the suspects fled on foot whilst one fled with the getaway vehicle,” Naicker said.

“Police managed to chase the three on foot and arrested them with the cash box as well as a firearm.”

The fourth robber, who was in the getaway car, was cornered by the police and arrested. The car had been stolen in the Pinetown area.
