Cape Town - Four people, three men and a woman, were shot dead in Parkwood at the weekend.

Police spokesperson André Traut confirmed the deaths and said they were investigating the murders.

He said the victims were between 19 and 30 years old.

The shooting happened in Kestrel Street in the early hours of Saturday morning. Traut said the motive for the shooting was unknown and no one has been arrested.

When the Cape Times arrived yesterday the house was cordoned off.

Neighbours said they were awoken by the sound of seven gunshots.

A neighbour, who asked not to be identified, said the area had been quiet for a long time.

“We are still waiting for the police to give us direction. They have not come back to us. We haven’t had shootings in a long time.”

The man says he was woken by his wife, who told him she had heard gunshots going off.

“When I went out to investigate I saw that four people were shot. I am still shocked and traumatised about this – and so are my other neighbours,” he added.

The homeowner had not been at his house when the shooting happened.

Neighbours said police had instructed him not to enter the house until they had completed initial investigations.

Neighbours also said none of the victims actually lived in the house.

Some of the neighbours said they had heard four people had been murdered.

A family member of one of the victims, aged 30, said he had last seen him on Wednesday.

“They all died on the scene. He was shot twice.”

Grassy Park Community Policing Forum chairperson Fuad Titus said he was aware of the incident but details of how the shooting took place were not clear.

Anyone with information about the murders is requested to contact Crime Stop at 0860 1011 or anonymously send an SMS to Crime Line at 32211.
