Durban - Four people were shot dead and another injured when armed men stormed a house in uMlazi on Saturday.

Police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, said the motive was not known and that police were investigating four counts of murder and an attempted murder.

He said no arrests had been made and the five people who were shot appeared to have been together at the house at the time, but were not related.

The house is in uMlazi’s P section. Three of the men died at the scene, while another died while being taken to hospital. The injured man is still in hospital.

Community Safety MEC, Willies Mchunu, expressed shock at the killings and called for anyone with information to report it to the police.

“We condemn these murders. These diabolical deeds are shocking, objectionable and unjustifiable and we shall monitor the case until there are arrests and convictions.

“I have been assured that police are working round the clock to ensure that those who are responsible for these murders are brought to justice.” said Mchunu.
