Convicted murderer Gerhardus du Plessis admitted in the High Court in Pretoria on Friday that several meetings were held to plan the shooting of Pretoria mother Chanelle Henning, SABC news reported.
Du Plessis, an ex-police officer who has turned state witness, was under cross-examination by state advocate Gerrie Nel when he told the court that he, Willem Pieterse, Andre Gouws, and Ambrose Monye met several times to plan the hit on Henning.
Pieterse has also turned state witness, while Monye and Gouws are now on trial facing charges of killing Henning, conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to procure an illegal firearm and ammunition, and possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
They have pleaded not guilty.
Previously, the court heard allegations by Pieterse that Henning's ex-husband, Nico Henning, had his wife followed.
Two men on a motorbike shot and killed Chanelle, 26, while she was driving her car in Faerie Glen, Pretoria East, on November 8, 2011, shortly after dropping off her child at a creche.
Pieterse and Du Plessis have claimed that Monye hired them to carry out the shooting and that he promised them R10,000 each.
After reaching a plea bargain, they were sentenced to 18 years in jail.
