Durban - A two-year-old-boy was abducted in Durban by hijackers who stole his father's bakkie, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said police were desperately looking for Emmanuel Khoza.

Khoza's father had been driving through Durban's Cato Manor area in his bakkie with his wife and two children when he stopped to greet a friend on Thursday evening. He parked his bakkie and got out to talk to the friend.

Moments later three men jumped into the bakkie and drove off with his wife, his new-born baby, and Emmanuel.

Emmanuel's mother managed to jump out with the baby, but the hijackers drove off with Emmanuel.

“We are making an appeal to anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of the boy to urgently contact the investigating officer,” said Naicker.

Warrant Officer Yamarasen Govender could be contacted on 084-592-5571. Anyone with information about the boy's whereabouts could also call the Crime Stop number 08600-10111. - Sapa
