Johannesburg - The case against a man accused of shooting a suspected rhino poacher on his family's game reserve was postponed in the Malelane Magistrate's Court, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.
Richard Hume, 31, who is out on bail of R5 000, appeared in court on Wednesday to face attempted murder charges.
The case was postponed to January 8.
Richard, who was arrested in September, is the son of John Hume, a well-known rhino and buffalo breeder.
Richard Hume spotted a suspicious-looking Ford Bantam bakkie at the Mauricedale game reserve, and signalled to the driver to stop.
The bakkie raced away, and according to provincial police spokesman Colonel Leonard Hlathi, he allegedly fired a shot, after which the bakkie came to a halt.
The driver, Sabelo Maphungla, 28, was shot and wounded.
Police arrested Maphungla, and two passengers, Siso Nkhosi, 28, and Jabo Dlamini, 38, for trespassing, illegal game hunting and possession of game. Two other passengers ran away.
Nkhosi, and Dlamini also appeared in the court on Wednesday.
Maphungla is still being treated in hospital.
The three were out on bail of R3000.
