Johannesburg - Constable Mokolo Molekoa was a ladies’ man, a gentleman who gave one of his girlfriends money for a haircut.
This is how the accused serial rapist described himself to the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court.
The former Randburg cop took the stand on Wednesday. Throughout his testimony, Molekoa yawned, rubbed his eyes and sniffed.
Every time defence attorney Buhle Madondo asked him if he had consensual sex with the women, Molekoa would sniff, scratch himself and pause before saying “Ja”.
He told the court he would chat, kiss and have sex with the women after they had agreed to be his girlfriends.
He said the first witness, Nandi*, had started touching his thigh while he was driving her home.
He said they stopped on the side of the road and had sex. He claimed that after dropping her off at home, she had asked him for money to do her hair, and he promised to give it to her when they next saw each other.
Molekoa denied having a firearm when he was in the company of the women.
He said another witness had suggested that they go and have sex near an open field because her parents were home and she could not use her bedroom.
Molekoa used his notebook as reference while testifying, constantly looking down to remember his version of events.
The police constable faces 17 charges of rape and kidnapping and 12 of robbery.
Madondo got through only five of the counts before Molekoa said he was tired.
The matter continues on day.
