Durban - Three men accused of kidnapping two police officers, stripping them, and killing one in Durban's Inanda area abandoned their bail application on Friday.

National Prosecuting Authority KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said Sabelo Mkhize, Sibuniso Kwibisa, and Lindokuhle Mchunu decided against applying for bail in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's court on Friday.

She said the case was adjourned to November 10 for further investigation and for a decision on whether to refer the matter to the High Court.

The two police officers were serving a protection order on one of the men in the Namibia informal settlement in Durban's Inanda area last month when they were allegedly disarmed, stripped of their police uniforms, and then bundled into the back of their police van.

They were then driven five kilometres to the Ngcungcwini area where the three men are alleged to have shot them, killing Sergeant Vusimuzi Moyana and critically wounding Sergeant Jabu Jojisa.

They each face two charges of kidnapping, two charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, one charge of murder, one of attempted murder, one of unlawful possession of a firearm, and one of unlawful possession of ammunitio.
