North West - The body of an infant has been found at the Swartruggens dumping site, North West police said on Sunday.
Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said people scavenging at the dumping site on Friday alerted the police.
“Upon arrival the police found the infant wearing a blue vest, wrapped with a yellow blanket, and a pair of disposable nappies in a red refuse plastic.”
She said the infant was certified dead at the scene and was taken to Phokeng mortuary where a post mortem would be conducted on Monday.
An inquest docket was opened.
