Johannesburg -

The Oscar Pistorius trial continues to be a massive media operation, with journalists from around the globe spending week after week in a Pretoria courtroom reporting on every tear shed, argument put forward and picture shown.

To quantify the interest in the Pistorius trial one company, Data Driven Insights (DDI), has been monitoring the coverage throughout the trial.

The company monitors more than 60 000 online publications around the world and, according to its latest numbers, the IOL news website has provided the most coverage.

IOL is owned by Independent Newspapers.

According to DDI, the IOL site has published close to 1 200 Pistorius-related articles online during the trial.

IOL editor Alastair Otter said he was pleased to be at the top of the list.

“We set out to provide our readers with the most comprehensive Oscar Pistorius coverage possible and clearly we have achieved this.”
