Johannesburg - Three senior Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) officials have approached the Labour Court in a bid to stop the watchdog body from transferring them.

The trio want to stop their transfers, which will see them sent from Gauteng to Durban and Polokwane.

Ipid suspects the officials are leaking information to the media about Deputy Police Minister Maggie Sotyu’s daughter Boniwe, who was given a top post without the necessary qualifications.

One of the three officials, spokesman Moses Dlamini, has denied the allegations and said the transfers would severely affect their family life, Eyewitness News reports.

Dlamini says when he was served with a notice to transfer, he was told he’d leaked information to the media.

The court papers appear to show that acting Ipid head Israel Kgamanyane failed to respond to his questions about what information was allegedly leaked.
