Johannesburg - Wednesday would mark day three of Oscar Pistorius’s testimony in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.
The Paralympic athlete was on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot dead through a locked bathroom door at his Pretoria home on Valentine’s Day last year.
He says he mistook her for an intruder.
Court proceedings adjourned early for the second time on Tuesday, despite prosecutor Gerrie Nel on Monday telling the court that he hoped the early adjournments would not be a daily occurrence.
The proceedings were cut short on Tuesday after Pistorius broke down and cried loudly as he described how he shot and killed Steenkamp.
“I heard a noise from inside the toilet which I perceived to be someone inside the toilet. I fired four shots into the door and shouted for Reeva to phone the police,” Pistorius told the court.
“I don't know how long I stood there for, shouting for Reeva...”
“Before I knew it, I had fired four shots,” he said.
The “Blade Runner” would on Wednesday still be led in delivering his evidence-in-chief by his lawyer, Barry Roux.
