Port Elizabeth - Riebeek College Girls' High School will hold a special memorial for slain teacher Jayde Panayiotou on Friday.

Panayiotou taught grade 4 to 7 at the school in Uitenhage, just outside Port Elizabeth.

On Tuesday, Panayiotou, 28, was allegedly abducted from outside her home in Kabega Park while waiting to be fetched by a fellow teacher to go to school.

Her body was found a day later in KwaNobuhle township after being spotted by a SAPS helicopter involved in her search.

Preliminary reports indicated that Panayiotou was shot dead.

The school said that the memorial on Friday morning was a private one and did not wish to comment further.

On a special tribute page on the school’s website, Riebeek staff recounted their favourite “Jayde moments”.

“I think Jayde was a kindred spirit to many people…To me, she was the person who kept on reminding me of all the good in the world. Her dedication to causes and people were humbling and so sincere,” Miss Potgieter wrote.

Other staff members spoke of the slain teacher’s personality: “feisty, enthusiastic, respectful, dependable, loyal, filled with integrity, strong, courageous, modest, highly capable but assuming, lovely laughter, her #goodvibes, how if she did something then it would be done precisely, neatly and thoroughly, how she was not a moaner but a do-er.”

Investigations into Panayiotou's death are ongoing.

Police have released a picture of a person of interest in the investigation. It is believed the person withdrew cash from an ATM using Panayiotou's card.
