Johannesburg - The sentencing of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and his five co-accused was postponed to 22 February 2016 by the High Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
The sentencing procedures had already been delayed twice since September and was again postponed on Tuesday as it emerged in court that Krejcir’s previous legal representative had quit, which forced him to appoint a new one.
Krejcir’s new legal representative, Advocate Nardus Grovè, told the court that his client had battled to obtain new legal counsel as money sent by his mother had been frozen and was only released recently.
Grovè furthermore said Krejcir had wanted to submit a medical certificate in mitigation but this had not yet been possible.
In August, Judge Colin Lamont found Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, Warrant Officer Samuel Modise Maropeng, Jan Lefu Mofokeng and Siboniso Miya guilty of the attempted murder of Bheki Lukhele.
A sixth accused George Jeff Nthoroane was found guilty of common assault. All six men were found guilty of kidnapping.
