Durban -

Armed men grabbed a packet containing R60 000 from businessman Siraj Neki, 35, before he could step into FNB in Springfield to make a deposit.

Neki said the men screamed while walking towards him with guns in their hands.

Police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, said a case of armed robbery had been opened at Sydenham SAPS.

Lee-Anne van Zyl of FNB said they had raised this matter with police.

“We employ security services in our branches.

Their function is to assist the SAPS and not to replace policing functions. We urge customers to use cash in transit services to deposit or to make electronic payment methods.”
