Durban - An alleged serial rapist appeared in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing three counts of rape, Kwazulu-Natal police said.
Sibongiseni Thusi, 29, was remanded in custody until August 31 for a bail application said SAPS spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane.
“On 20 August 2015, a 22-year-old woman was at Empangeni CBD when she was lured by a man who promised her a job, he took her to a secluded area and raped her before fleeing the scene.”
Zwane said the victim immediately informed the Empangeni FCS police and the man was arrested and charged.
A formal identity parade was held and the suspect was positively identified by three victims. Two of his victims were aged 15 and 19 years old.
They too were lured to a secluded area with the promise of a job between February and April this year.
