Johannesburg -

Thieves broke into a mortuary in Rathoke village, Marble Hall, and made off with several items including doors, Limpopo police said on Friday.

A transformer, a geyser, the cold room motor, tools, a gas stove and other items were taken, Constable Lethunya Mmuroa said.

“The date on which the crime was committed is not clear but it was between December 24 last year and Thursday, 29 January,” he said.

The mortuary has since closed.

“According to the owner, she left the building on 24 December and everything was in good condition. When she came back on Thursday she found the lock of the main gate was broken,” said Mmuroa.

“She entered and noticed that the door of the mortuary was broken and equipment ... was stolen.”

A case of business burglary was opened.

No arrests had been made yet.
