Polokwane - A man accused of killing a woman and her daughter appeared in the Ritavi Magistrate's Court on Monday, Limpopo police said.

Frederick Molewa, 35, would remain in custody until his bail application on Wednesday, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said.

He was arrested in Germiston, Gauteng, on March 6 after being on the run for three days following the murder of Mary Mangena, 63, and her daughter, Hermina, 40.

Molewa allegedly entered the Mangena's home in Sasekani, outside Tzaneen, on March 3 and shot the two women.

“When the police arrived at the crime scene, both 1/8women 3/8 were found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds,” Ngoepe said at the time.

Mary Mangena died at the scene. Her daughter died in hospital the following day.

Ngoepe said police had since learnt that the man had been in a relationship with Mangena's younger daughter. She was not home at the time of the shooting. The couple had lived together at his home, but the woman recently moved out after a fight.
