Cape Town - A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly woman who was found in a rubbish bin in Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain, on Monday.
Police spokesman Noloyiso Rwexana said circumstances around the murder were being investigated.
“This office is not in a position to reveal any further details,” she said.
Rwexana said the police had attended to a murder scene in Winterhoek Street, where they found the body of a 61-year-old woman inside a dirt bin.
Abie Isaacs, the Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum chairman, said: “We are working with the police, and we understand someone has been arrested.”
In a separate incident, a man died after being shot several times in the upper body at the corner of AZ Berman and Spine roads in Eastridge.
No one has been arrested.
