Durban - A 38-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as being in possession of drugs valued at R1 000, Durban police said on Wednesday.
Spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said the arrest occurred at 11am at a house on Sitheku Road in E section.
“After conducting a search they recovered a 38 Taurus revolver and cocaine with an estimated street value of R1 000,” he said.
Naicker said investigations revealed that the firearm was stolen from a home in Pinetown.
The man is expected to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court soon for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as possession of drugs.
The firearm will be sent to ballistic tests to determine if it was used in the commission of any other crime.
