Johannesburg - A 26-year-old man wanted in connection with the murder of Thabane Mcube three years ago was arrested in Wadeville, Germiston, Gauteng police said on Tuesday.

Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said the man and an accomplice allegedly stabbed Mcube to death on April 24, 2011 in Johannesburg.

“It is alleged that a victim had an argument with two suspects. He demanded his cellphone from them. They asked the victim to accompany them to their flat where they stabbed him,” he said.

Mbele said the man was arrested after his photograph was published in newspapers on Friday.

He would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

His accomplice was still at large, he said.
