Johannesburg - A man accused of raping a mentally disabled teenage girl in Agisanang township, Sannieshof, is expected to apply for bail in court next week, North West police said on Saturday.

The 47-year-old allegedly raped the fourteen-year-old on Wednesday around 2pm, Captain Pelonomi Makau said.

“It is alleged that the suspect called the victim from her house to his house where he gave her money before allegedly raping her.”

The girl's mother was told that the girl had gone to the man's home.

“Her mother found her allegedly naked at the accused's place and (the girl) told her mother that the accused raped her.”

Police were notified and the man was arrested.

He appeared in the Sannieshof Magistrate's Court on Thursday on a rape charge.

The matter was postponed to April 3 for a formal bail application. It was also moved to the Delareyville Magistrate's Court which was a bigger court, said Makau. - Sapa
