Rustenburg - A Rustenburg man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death, North West police said on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old allegedly killed his wife at the local taxi rank on Monday evening, said Captain Pelonomi Makau.

“The couple, who are Lesotho nationals, had an argument whereby the husband accused the wife of infidelity,” she said.

“The husband allegedly took out a knife and stabbed his wife several times on her body.”

She was taken to hospital where she died.

Her husband then sustained serious injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by community members in an act of vigilantism.

“Police are appealing to members of the community not to take the law into their own hands but leave the law to take its course,” said Makau.

The man would appear in the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court soon.
