Kimberley - A man arrested in connection with the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a five-year-old girl appeared in the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court, Kimberley, on Tuesday, Northern Cape police said.
The case against Ivan Mothibe was postponed to January 27 for further investigation, Lieutenant Andrea Cloete said.
Rachel Berandt's father opened a case with police shortly after he discovered she was missing from her home on November 29.
“A case of kidnapping was opened as witnesses alleged that the child was seen in the company of a known person,” Cloete said.
Berandt's body was found in a veld the next day.
