Durban - A man accused of killing six family members in KwaZulu-Natal in 2012 appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on Monday, police said.
The matter was postponed to January 28.
Tshepang Mokhali, 25, faced six counts of murder and would remain in police custody, Colonel Jay Naicker said.
Mokhali was arrested in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape on Saturday.
He allegedly shot and killed Nobuhle Marcellinah Leneha, 38, and her five children, aged between two and 14, in the Mzinyathi area in KwaZulu-Natal in December 2012, Naicker said.
A toddler survived the attack.
“It is alleged that he robbed the family, who are his relatives, and killed them to cover up the robbery,” said Naicker.
The man allegedly fled to Lesotho after the incident and was arrested on Friday when he came to Matatiele to visit his relatives.
