Rustenburg - A 68-year-old man, accused of raping a nine-year-old girl, appeared in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court on Monday, North West police said.
Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping the girl in Monakato, outside Rustenburg, on April 14.
“It is alleged that the girl went to her grandmother’s place to play with another child. She was allegedly there when the suspect called her inside the house, dragged her into the bedroom where he raped her,” said Colonel Mokgwabone.
“The minor allegedly went home where she disclosed the incident to her mother.”
She was taken to a clinic where staff confirmed the rape.
The case was postponed to April 28 for a bail application.
